CJI, CM and CJ to throw open new city courts complex

The high-tech civil courts complex, including a cellar and eight floors and equipped with latest facilities, was completed for ₹100 cr

VIJAYAWADA: The fully equipped Vijayawada Civil Courts complex housing 29 courts and range of facilities for judges, advocates and litigants will be thrown open on August 20 by Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana in presence of AP High Court Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Work on the new civil courts’ complex commenced with laying of foundation stone by Justice Ramana in 2013, who was then the Chief Justice of AP High Court. It was targeted to be completed by 2017, but work got stalled for various reasons. The complex is finally ready in all aspects and is now ready for inauguration.

The high-tech civil courts complex in Vijayawada, including a cellar and eight floors and equipped with latest facilities, has been completed at a cost of ₹100 crore. It has spacious parking for hundreds of four wheelers and two wheelers. It is equipped with high speed internet and Wi-Fi, apart from latest computers, to emerge as one of the top court complexes in the country.

There will be three court halls on the first floor, four court halls each on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th floors, and two court halls on the 8th floor. All 29 court halls are fully furnished with separate chambers for all 29 judges. Each floor has a hall for members of the bar association comprising both male and female advocates. There are also good number of spacious waiting halls for public visiting the court complex.

Seven lifts are available in the complex, two exclusively for judges, one for advocates and the remaining four for both advocates and general public.

There is an auditorium that can accommodate more than 300 people, besides a huge canteen on the ground floor for both advocates and people visiting the courts.

A huge parking lot is available in the complex for about 100 four wheelers and more than 300 two-wheelers.

Bezawada Bar Association president Ch. Vishnu Vardhan told Deccan Chronicle that Justice Ramana, who laid foundation for the courts’ complex as then Chief Justice of AP High Court in 2013 is also inaugurating the court complex on August 20, 2022 in presence of the current APHC CJ Prashant Kumar and the CM.
