COVID tally in Telangana crosses 90K mark
Hyderabad: Telangana state has crossed the 90,000 mark in the number of Covid-19 cases, with health authorities reporting 1,863 more cases as on Friday evening. They said that 10 people died from Covid-19 disease in the 24-hour period between Thursday and Friday evening.
If the trend of more than 1,500 cases a day continues, the state is expected to hit the one lakh mark by the end of the next week.
In its Covid-19 bulletin for August 14, released on Saturday morning, the health department said that of the 1,863 new cases, 394 were from the GHMC area while the rest were from the 32 districts. Four districts registered more than 100 cases: Medchal-Malkajgiri 175, Ranga Reddy 131, Karimangar 104, Warangal Urban 101.
As has been its practice with respect to the release of Covid-19 data, the health department has not revealed from where the 10 deaths occurred, or if they occurred in government hospitals or private hospitals.
So far, 684 people infected with the Cornavirus have lost their lives since the first case of the disease was found on March 2 of this year. The total number of Covid-19 case so far is 90,259, the department said.
The department said that 23,379 Covid-19 positive cases were active of whom 16,221 persons were either in home or institutional isolation. It said 1,912 persons were considered ‘recovered’ between Thursday and Friday evening, taking the total people in the recovered category to 66,196.
