Great train robbery: More secured wagons to help transport bank cash
A special type of cash van can be designed and the matter would be finalized in consultation with RBI, said DRM.
Salem: Following the great train robbery, the Railways is mulling introducing more secured wagons to transport huge amount of cash, said Hari Shankar Verma, DRM (divisional railway manager), Salem division.
“I have discussed the issue of increasing the security of cash-laden parcel vans with the security adviser of RBI. A special type of cash van can be designed and the matter would be finalized in consultation with RBI. Also 54 CCTV cameras will be installed in Salem junction under public-private partnership to enhance monitoring,” he said to journalists after hoisting the national tricolor here on Monday.
