Plantation drive held in Kondagattu forest region

KARIMNAGAR: As part of the sixth phase of the ‘Green India Challenge’, as many as 1,000 saplings were planted in the Kondagattu forest region by the students of JNTU, Nachupally during a plantation drive near Kondagattu temple in Maliala mandal of Jagtial district on Saturday. Rajya Sabha member J. Santosh Kumar, ministers Indrakaran Reddy and Gangula Kamalakar, Chief Minister’s OSD Priyanka Varghese and government chief secretary Santha Kumari took part in the event.

For the development of the forest area adjoining the famed temple that he had adopted under the Green India Challenge (GIC), the MP allotted Rs 1.04 crore from MPLADS with which a protective fence, walking track and watchtower were constructed and the forest area surrounding the temple premises was restored.

Terming the GIC as a role model for the country, Endowments minister A. Indrakaran Reddy lauded the MP for his efforts in creating awareness on the environment and plantation.

Earlier, they offered prayers at the Sri Anjaneya Swamy temple at Kondagattu.
