Flexboards in city removed by Thiruvananthapuram Corporation
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has launched a drive to remove illegal flexboards dotting the road sides. A special squad was put to work on Saturday and removed flexboards on the stretch from East Fort to Palayam. The drive will continue in the coming days. A press release issued from the Mayor’s office says that revenue officials have been instructed to remove flexboards announcing events which have already happened. Unless the civic body sanctions it, billboards and flexboards cannot be put up.
The release says that flexboards should bear the name and contact number of the person or organisation putting it up. In addition, it says that the name and contact number of the printer as well as the number of copies printed should also be displayed on the board. Corporation will impose fines on organisations which do not comply with these instructions. The drive has been launched in view of the safety hazards and the traffic issues caused by flexboards, according to the release.
