Telangana University students beg' for food

Hostels fail to serve food for the second consecutive day, due to a strike by outsourcing employees who are demanding their wages

NIZAMABAD: Students of Telangana University on Thursday begged for food as the university hostels failed to serve them for the second consecutive day, due to a strike by outsourcing employees who are demanding their wages.

The students begged for food nearby Nadipally thanda to mark their protest.

A dispute between Vice Chancellor D. Ravinder Gupta and the Executive Council led to the withholding of the wages of the hostel staff. As a result, the hostel staff have not been paid for months.

Integrated MBA student Jogu Naveen blamed the situation on the lack of coordination among university officials. Around 650 hostel students have been shelling out up to ₹200 on their food for the last two days, he said.

Chief Warden Mahender Reddy ignored the pleas of students and the situation turned worse, he said.
