Hyderabad Gaming Weekend Delights Enthusiasts

Hyderabad: Gaming enthusiasts are having a ball at the ongoing three-day Hyderabad Gaming Weekend, that began on Friday at E-Galleria, Hitec City Metro Rail Station. From avid gamers to curious commuters, everyone was hooked to these games which ranged from mystical adventures, mythology and the rich culture of India to superhero, occult-themed games.

Sreeja Arudaya, an avid gamer, named Flight Simulator by Level2Games as her favourite. "It was a very immersive and fun air combat game with well-detailed WWII planes and interesting and challenging missions. The thrill the game gave me was better than the other battle games I usually play," she told Deccan Chronicle.

Mohd Mohsin won several levels of the popular 2048 Block Puzzle by TechnoSkulls and Occult Chambers by BornMonkie. "While I have played 2048 before, the occult game was a lot of fun. The action-horror narrative game set in the valleys of the Himalayas has me on a quest to find my missing father and uncover a sinister world of occult rituals and fantastical creatures from deep Indian mythology. The amount of research and creativity and levelling up happening in the Indian digital gaming space is phenomenal," he said.

Bhargav Teja enjoyed playing a game about Tanhaji the Warrior; his parents said that such games were an interesting way to introduce history and culture to kids. "We don't have to rely on them for accuracy but it can be a great way to initiate interest," said D. Teja, his father.

Enthusiasts, start-ups, and industry professionals also had a fireside chat on ‘Metaverse — The present, not the future,” where they engage in an interactive discussion with industry experts and guests including Rajat Ojha, CEO of Gamitronics; Kapil Dhiman, CEO of MetaStudios; and Raunak Bagga, CEO of Koolgen Interactives.

They explored the Metaverse landscape and its impact on the gaming industry. Towards the evening, people also participated in a storytelling open mic, gaming stories, gamers meet-up. Many also discussed the growing interest and success of the gaming industry and the ethics that revolve around it.

Bala Krishna Annaluri, professor and principal, Backstage Pass Institute of Gaming and Technology, gave many insights into the global game market, the job outlook and the different job roles and required skills to thrive in the industry.
