Reschedule Telangana iftar, say Shias

AISO president Mir Hadi Ali said, “We want the government to change the date as it is a mourning day for the Shia community.\"

Hyderabad: June 26, the date of the iftar being hosted by the state government, clashes with the death anniversary of Hazrat Ali, the All India Shia Organisation said on Wednesday. The organisation has written to the state government to change the date.

AISO president Mir Hadi Ali said, “We want the government to change the date as it is a mourning day for the Shia community. They will not be able to participate in the iftar. Last year too, the dates clashed with the three-day mourning period observed by the Shia Muslim community. Later it was changed. The government must also include the Shia community while deciding on the iftar dates.”
