Kerala Assembly Elections: Campaign to scale high pitch in next fortnight
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After Vishu celebrations, political parties are gearing up to intensify their campaigning for the next leg of the forthcoming Assembly polls. Star campaigners of the UDF and LDF, chief minister Oommen Chandy and Opposition leader V S Achuthanandan have drawn up long schedule of electioneering. There is a huge demand for both the leaders across the state.
The candidates who had concentrated on meeting prominent personalities, groups and associations in their respective constituencies, have begun door to door campaign in many places. With 30 days left for the campaign, the candidates expect to do at least two rounds of door to door campaigning in their constituencies.
Vehicles mounted with public address system have started appearing on the roads in big numbers in various constituencies soliciting the votes of people and creating poll atmosphere. Most political parties have decided to bring in their national leaders from next week.
The CPM on Friday finalised the campaign schedule of its leaders. V S Achuthanandan will begin his campaign from Kasargod on April 20. He will cover Kannur ( April 21), Wayanad (Aprl 22), Kozhikode (April 23) , Malappuram (April 24), break on April 25, Thrissur (April 26), Ernakulam(April 27), Idukki (April 28), Kottayam (April 29), Alappuzha (April 30) Pathanmthitta (May 1), Kollam (May 2) and Thiruvananthapuram (May 3).
CPM politburo member will begin his campaign from Thiruvananthapruam on April 20. He will cover Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki , Ernakulam, Thrissur , Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur. The last leg of his campaign in Kasargod will be on May 6.
The party has also finalised the campaign schedule of Kodiyeri Balakrishnan and M A Baby. For UDF , Mr Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala, K M Mani , P K Kunhalikutty, Shibu Baby John, K P Mohanan and other leaders will carry out a whirlwind election campagin across the state. Meanwhile, the central leaders of the Congress, CPM, CPI and BJP will start arriving in big numbers from next week to campaign for their respective candidates.
