Belagavi: Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai announced that a 108-feet tall statue of social reformer Basaveshwara will be constructed on the banks of Ghataprabha in Belagavi district.

The chief minister made the announcement after performing pooja for the construction of the statue of Basavanna at Tinasukate along with other development works in Belagavi.

The statue is being constructed with the aim of making the area an international tourism spot.
