Lok Ayuktha registers case against Sircilla collector

R. Venkat Rao complained that district administration is discriminating against those evicted from Chinthalthana in payment of compensation

SIRCILLA: Following complaint by a land oustee of Mid Manair Dam (MMD) project over non-payment of R&R (Relief and Rehabilitation) package, Lok Ayuktha has registered a case against collector of Rajanna Sircilla district.

The oustee R. Venkat Rao complained that district administration is discriminating against those evicted from Chinthalthana village in payment of compensation. He pointed out that as per Land Acquisition Act of 2013, government must provide employment to affected families, or pay compensation of ₹ 5 lakh per family, or ₹ 2,000 per family as monthly annuity for a period of 20 years.

The government must also allot a house under Indira Awas Yojana, ₹ 50,000 for transportation, and another ₹ 50,000 as one-time settlement to oustees.

For past several years, oustees of MMD project belonging to Chinthalthana village have been going around government offices for R&R package after parting with their precious lands and ancestral houses for construction of the project. But no compensation has been provided yet.

Venkat Rao said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao too has not fulfilled his promise of sanctioning ₹ 5.04 lakh to each beneficiary for construction of a house.

Following the complaint, the Lok Ayuktha registered a case (1269/2021/B1). He ordered officials to probe the matter immediately and submit a report.
