Transferring poachgate case to CBI: Telangana HC reserves orders

The advocate general submitted that ACB was a specialised agency, just like CB-CID and CCS, which also investigate cases

Hyderabad: Justice Vijaysen Reddy has heard arguments regularly from the first week of December.

On Thursday, Advocate General B.S. Prasad, representing the state government, submitted that SIT has the authority to conduct the probe into the poachgate case.

Replying to the contentions raised by senior counsel J. Prabhakar, who represented the BJP-Telangana unit, Prasad informed the court that ACB cases are being referred by the government or on any complaint by an individual. Law and order police conduct a discreet enquiry and have taken up investigation after registering FIR.

On Wednesday, Prabhakar placed GO. 268 before the court, which states that only ACB is authorised and competent to investigate cases registered under Prevention of Corruption Act.

The advocate general submitted that ACB was a specialised agency, just like CB-CID and CCS, which also investigate cases.

On the conclusion of submissions, the judge announced that the court is reserving orders.
