On Children’s Day, school kid tweets to KTR on water supply

Hyderabad: On Children's Day, a young boy from Hyderabad made an unusual request to Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) K. T. Rama Rao via a video that was widely shared on social media.

The boy is seen in the video holding a placard that reads, "Small Children's Day wish to KTR uncle. We are living in Golden City colony, near Pillar No. 247, Hyderabad. We have been waiting for municipal water for the last 5 years. We are facing many problems. Please help us [sic].”

In response to the tweet, the minister asked Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) MD Dana Kishore to personally visit the colony and resolve the issue. Subsequently, the MD visited the colony, met the boy and other residents, and immediate orders for water pipeline construction were issued.

Dana Kishore explained that a pipeline worth Rs 2.85 crore was sanctioned for the area, but work was put on hold until October 31 due to the GHMC's ban on digging of road during monsoon. Due to this, the construction of the pipeline has been delayed, but will be resumed soon. He promised them that work on the pipeline would be completed in two weeks, after which water supply would start. Till then, the Water Board would supply water to the colony through tankers, he said.
