Co-operative sector should go digital: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
KOZHIKODE: “The co-operative sector must not keep away from digitalization and should soon switch over to digitalization,” said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. It was the need of the hour to make the entire co-operative sector digital, the CM said. The CM was speaking after inaugurating the statewide 64th anniversary week-long celebrations of the co-operative sector on Tuesday at Tagore Centenary Hall. He said that the government was implementing digitalization in every sector in the State gradually.
“If the co-operative sector turns against digitalization, it will be left behind in this fast moving world. In a short span, digital facilities will spread in all the villages in the State. Digitalization is more effective in the banking sector. In terms of advancement, the banking sector is way ahead and hence the banks under the co-operative sector should start to move with this wave at the earliest for growth and development,” he said
To ensure transparency in the banking sector under the co-operative sector, digitalization was very important, he said. “It has already been proved that after some of the banks under the co-operative sector were digitalized, many of the fraudsters were brought under control,” he added. The aim of the celebration was to highlight the achievements of the co-operative sector and chalk out future strategies for growth based on the dynamics of co-operative development in each sector. Through the week-long celebrations, a large number of people will be sensitized on developments in the co-operative sector. The function was presided over by Devasom and Cooperation Minister Kadakampally Surendran.
