Kerala BJP to launch campaign on demonetisation impact
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state BJP has decided to counter the UDF and LDF campaign that demonetisation has hit hard the economy and the common man. With the two fronts announcing protests against the centre’s decision, the BJP will launch an awareness campaign among the people on the impact of demonetisation in unearthing black money and strengthening the economy in the long run.
But some BJP leaders admit that the centre should have made available enough Rs 1000 and Rs 500 notes. Former state BJP president P. K. Krishnadas told DC that banking transactions would become normal soon. “The old 1000 and 500 notes can be used in hospitals and railway stations until November 24,” he said. The new 500-rupee notes would be available in the banks soon.
But Rs 2,000 notes will reach the ATMs only after two weeks because the machines have to be altered for the purpose which a Chennai-based company is doing. BJP state general secretary M. T. Ramesh said several help desks had been started under the aegis of the party and its allies like Seva Bharathy. Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha leaders are helping the consumers fill the forms, clearing their doubts and distributing drinking water etc.
