Telangana HC to hear farmer plea on pharma firms

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court deferred the hearing of a plea sought by a farmer, Kosgi Venkatesh, challenging the Pollution Control Board (PBC) for not initiating criminal action against Hetero Labs, Aurobindo Pharma, and five pharmaceutical companies for polluting his land in Rajapur, Mahabubnagar, in spite of the National Green Tribunal levying a compensation of Rs 18.25 lakh to him. To this, the PCB said no effluent discharge was observed from the companies and said it monitors the industries located in Polepally SEZ to ensure compliance. Counsel for the petitioner sought two weeks to file objections.

Notices issued on chemical firm pollution

The PIL bench of the Telangana High Court ordered notice to an array of respondents on environmental pollution caused by chemical industries in Dhotigudem, Pochampally mandal of Yadadri district. The bench was dealing with a writ plea filed by Gummi Narender Reddy and another, challenging the inaction of the government on Hazelo Laboratories Pvt Ltd for releasing poisonous effluents into the petitioners’ land. The petitioners alleged that the effluents were making their land uncultivable. The petitioner asked the court to shut down operation of the company.


Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana High Court closed a writ petition by T. Dhangopal Rao, seeking directions for the strict implementation of Supreme Court directives to remove black films on the windows of automobiles. The judge directed a sample collection of challans from erring motorists. After seeing the data, Justice Bhaskar Reddy said police had taken measures to prevent the use of black films. He also observed that the traffic police had been regularly directing car décor shopowners not to fix black films or any other material on the window glasses.


Govt to respond on 270 acres of land in Malkajgiri district

Justice C. Sumalata of the Telangana High Court directed the revenue department to get instructions regarding the sale deeds being registered in respect of 270 acres of land in Ravalkole, Medchal-Malkajgiri district, which has been notified under Section 22A of the Registration Act. The judge was dealing with a writ plea filed by Raja Sanjay Gopal Saincher and others, legal heirs of Maharaja Kishen Pershad, who claimed ownership of the land. The court directed the petitioner to show his locus to challenge the same, as the property was notified as government land. The petitioner said they were in the process of challenging the government order. The judge directed them to file the government order and adjourned the matter to November 2.
