Special investigation team to present documents on senior lawyer in Kerala High Court

The family of the victim had also given statement against the lawyer.

Thrissur: The special investigation team probing the murder of real estate broker Rajeev in Chalakkudy last month has prepared the documents to be presented in the High Court regarding the victim's association with senior lawyer C.P. Udayabhanu, it is learnt. Mr S. Shamsudheen, head of the SIT, Special Branch DySP (Thrissur Rural), had held consultations with the director-general of prosecution on the case on Friday. "We have prepared all the details regarding the senior lawyer in the case and they will be presented before the High Court on October 16when the next hearing on the anticipatory bail plea of Mr Udayabhanu will be held," Mr Shamsudheen told DC.

He hinted that the questioning of the lawyer would be necessary and that the court would take a decision after going through the documents in the sealed cover. On the day of the kidnapping and murder of the Angamaly-based broker, both Udayabhanu and first accused Chakkarakkal Johny had rung up Chalakkudy DySP Shahul Hameed informing that Rajeev was lying unconscious inside a building owned by a convent at Pariyaram near Chalakkudy. The body of the victim was later recovered from the building and he was found strangled by the goons hired by Johny.

The family of the victim had also given statement against the lawyer. According to the lawyers and family members of Rajeev, the lawyer had given an advance of Rs 70 lakh to him for two land deals worth over Rs 4 core and there were issues between both after the lawyer failed to pay all the money for the deal.
