Tirupati to get electric double-decker bus

Tirupati: In a significant step towards enhancing public transportation in the bustling pilgrim city of Tirupati, a state-of-the-art electric double-decker bus is being introduced on its roads within the next month.
The electric vehicle (EV), valued at ₹2 crore, arrived in the city on Thursday. It has been acquired by Tirupati Smart City Corporation Limited. The double-decker will immensely change the commuting experience within the city.
Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) deputy mayor Bhumana Abhinay Reddy said the bus is a testament of the city's commitment to provide sustainable and eco-friendly facilities. They have partnered with the AP State Road Transport Corporation to operate the EV double-decker along key areas within the municipal limits.
Highlighting their efforts to commence the EV bus service, Abhinay Reddy said introduction of the double-decker EV bus is a significant milestone for the city, which has thus far lacked a comprehensive public transportation system. "It will provide a comfortable and eco-friendly means of transportation, reducing dependence on auto-rickshaws," he added.
