Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there were 2,850 medical seats in 2014 in the state. The number of medical seats has been increased to 8515 medical seats by 2023. "I heartily congratulate the Minister T Harish Rao and the Secretary of the Medical Department. We fought hard to ensure that 85 percent of the medical seats went to Telangana children and won a legal battle in the High Court. It was a great success. We are going to produce 10,000 doctors per year through private and government medical colleges," K Chandrasekhar Rao said.

Further, the Chief Minister stated that the government is setting up medical colleges for each district in Telangana. This year we have reached almost 24. If there were five medical colleges in the past, today the number has reached 26. Eight colleges are going to start afresh for the next academic year. The approval of the cabinet has also been obtained.

"White coat doctors to be produced by Telangana will protect not only the state but also the country's health system. Telangana is developing in all fields. Along with the electricity sector, we have achieved miracles in agriculture and the drinking water sector. We have grown to the level of supplying rice to the country. Agriculture is now flourishing in Palamuru district. We are going to start the Palamuru project. Five medical colleges have come up in Palamuru which did not have a single college.Three colleges have come up in Nalgonda. We are going to create miracles by establishing medical colleges in the remote districts like Asifabad, Mulugu, Bhupalpally districts and even in the areas where forest children live," Chief Minister said.

Chandrasekhar Rao said that where the healthcare system is strong, there will be less deaths and losses. Taking inspiration from that, we are bringing medical colleges as well as excellent hospitals. Telangana is the only state in the country with 22 MBBS seats per lakh population. This is our achievement. By the time the state was formed, there were 17,000 beds, now we have reached 34,000 beds. Another six hospitals are under construction. A wonderful hospital is being constructed in Warangal. We are constructing hospitals with 1000 beds each in Gachibowli, LB Nagar, Alwal and Erragadda. We are expanding NIMS with another 2,000 beds. The number of beds in hospitals is going to reach 50,000.

Explaining difficulties during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Chief Minister said that Oxygen is very much needed during Covid pandemic. Taking it as a lesson, The government is producing 500 tonnes of oxygen under the leadership of the Health Minister T Harish Rao.

"At least 50,000 beds are being converted into oxygen beds. 10 thousand super speciality beds are also being made available. Paramedical personnel are in demand both nationally and internationally. In addition to medical colleges, nursing colleges and para-medical courses should be set up in every district," the Chief Minister said.
