Sindhu offers prayers at Poleramma shrine in Venkatagiri

Sindhu told that she will be preparing for Asian Games scheduled for August 2023 in China and Olympics in September 2024 at Paris

Nellore: Ace badminton player P.V. Sindhu offered prayers at Goddess Poleramma shrine in Venkatagiri along with her family members on the occasion of Jatara on Thursday.

After worshipping the deity, Sindhu said, “I am very happy to be here. Anam Ramanarayana Reddy garu has been inviting me for this famous Jatara every year but I could make it this time.”

She said it is her second visit to Venkatagiri while referring to her previous visit after winning silver at the 2016 Summer Olympics (Rio).

She spoke about her implicit faith in the almighty while adding that everyone should have the blessings of the Goddess and they indeed get her divine favour.

She profoundly thanked Venkatagiri legislator Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who received her at the shrine, for giving the opportunity to worship the Goddess.

Responding to this, Ramanarayana Reddy said, in a lighter vein, that the entire Venkatagiri is covered with gold because of the visit of 2019 Badminton World Championships gold medal winner Sindhu.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle later, Sindhu said she has been taking rest for the past three weeks due to a hairline fracture to the leg while playing in Commonwealth Games 2022 at Birmingham in August this year.

Sindhu said she will be preparing for Asian Games scheduled for August 2023 in China and the Olympics in September 2024 at Paris.

Her parents P.V. Ramana and P. Vijaya and a close family friend P. Srinivasa Reddy, circle inspector of Gudur rural were present with her.

Earlier, AP State Badminton Association president and Nuda chairman Mukkala Dwarakanath felicitated Sindhu along with the members of the association.
