Dead Maoist's relatives petition CM Pinarayi Vijayan

Sinoj was in charge of the political wing of the Maoist outfit Kabani Dalam.

Thrissur: Relatives of Maoist leader Sinoj alias Rajan has petitioned Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for a proper investigation into his mysterious death. His brother Kannan also gave its copy to the rural SP Yathish Chandra on Thursday. The family of Valappad resident says he was killed on June 15, 2014, as per the report published in Kattuthee, the Maoist mouthpiece, which said the death occurred after an accidental blast while making explosives at a hideout on Karnataka- Andhra border.

“We were then told that his body was buried deep in the forest as it got split into pieces in the explosion. However, this information was false as the videos retrieved following the 2016 Nilambur encounter shows his body being buried in proper condition without being scattered,” Mr Kannan said.

Sinoj was in charge of the political wing of the Maoist outfit Kabani Dalam. A member of the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army of the CPI (Maoist), he was a known figure within the organisation. He had undergone guerrilla training in Jharkhand in 2010 before becoming part of the Kerala squad. Yathish Chandra confirmed that he had received the complaint. “We will verify the complaint, and a team led by DySP S. Shamsuddin will conduct an investigation,” the SP told reporters.
