Thiruvananthapuram: The state CPM’s massive organisational exercise in the run up to the party Congress to be held in Hyderabad in April 2018, will begin from Friday. In the first leg, branch conferences will be held from Septmber 15 to October 16. While these conferences will have party members and candidate members as delegates, in order to ensure wider participation this time around the fellow travellers, sympathisers and family members of partymen will be invited for the inaugural session.
Besides organisational issues and ideological issues, the conferences will also chalk out plans for grassroots level mass campaigns. The issue of conduct of party top leaders is likely to come in for discussion in the wake of Kadakampaly Surendran’s Guruvayur temple worship. The state leadership is keen to settle the issue at the Secretariat meeting to be held on Friday to prolonged debates on the issue at the branch, local and area conferences. Red volunteer marches and rallies will mark the beginning of local conferences during the second leg beginning from October 15 to November 15.
