Gyms now at all police stations in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner M. Mahender Reddy has provided gyms at all police stations in the city.
The department has procured treadmills, stationery cycles, dumb-bells, skipping ropes, yoga mats etc for all police stations. All east zone police stations now have mini gyms.
Amberpet inspector A.P. Anand Kumar said the gym at his police station was formally launched by DCP V. Ravinder. “We are insisting that our staff spend at least an hour in the gym. As the staff is deployed on continuous duty they do not get time for exercises. We are making it mandatory for all policemen to do exercises based on their age, weight and height,” he said. An official said the department would provide more equipment.
“Each treadmill costs Rs 2 lakh. Cycling and other equipment are sophisticated. In the next phase, all police stations will be given benches, multiple exercise equipment and weights for shoulder, chest and arm exercises,” the official said.
He said that all police stations were being renovated and there was space for setting up mini-gyms and recreation centers. He said that all cops will be asked to use the equipment and improve fitness.
