Indira Park to VST steel bridge opening delayed
HYDERABAD: A 2.81-kilometer steel flyover from Indira Park to VST is currently being load-tested and is expected to open in the last week of August, officials said.
The construction of the first-of-its-kind flyover in the city was completed in the last week of July.
The flyover facilitates the free flow of traffic movement from Indira Park to Vidyanagar Junction, bypassing the four junctions at NTR Stadium, Ashoknagar, RTC X Roads, and Baghlingampally. It is expected to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, officials said.
GHMC officials said that currently, load testing of the flyover is in progress and that the flyover will be opened to traffic around 10 days after the load test.
Around 12,500 metric tonnes of special alloy steel and up to 20,000 cubic meters of concrete have gone into the making of the flyover.
The flyover stands over 81 steel piers, of which 46 are foundations. Altogether, 426 steel girders are supporting a four-lane deck slab of 16.60-metre width, officials said.
At the RTC X Roads junction, the flyover is going above the Metro Line, at a height of 26.54 metres.
It has been built at a cost of Rs450 crore, under the Telangana government’s flagship Strategic Road Development Project (SRDP).
