Hyderabad Police mark I-Day with flag hoisting, extol virtues of freedom fighters

Hyderabad: Police across the tri-commissionerate area celebrated Independence Day with great fervour, marking the day with the distribution of awards, National Flag unfurling and senior officials extolling the virtues the police forces must inculcate from the lives of freedom fighters.

In the Hyderabad zone, joint commissioner of city police (admin) Parimala Hana Nutan and DIG hoisted the National Flag at the Integrated Command Control Centre, in the presence of other senior officials and staff.

In Rachakonda, police commissioner D.S. Chauhan flagged off the celebrations at the commissioner’s office at Neredmet. Chauhan greeted the police personnel, as well as the public, and distributed sweets to them.

Senior police officers, including joint commissioner Satyanarayana, DCP (Special Branch) Balaswamy and DCP (Crimes) Arvind were present.

Cyberabad police commissioner Stephen Raveendra unfurled the National Flag and commemorated the freedom fighters on the day.

In his address to the police force, he said: “Everyone wants to redeploy to national service. We all have a responsibility to remember the freedom struggle and the sacrifices that gave freedom to India. Police officers should strive for racial integrity and peace in the society and step towards a better society.”

“Today, we all live free and independent because of the sacrifice of many great people. The sacrifices of great people should continuously inspire us to move forward. Police should be dedicated to law and order, national integrity and public service,” he said.

The Nalgonda police held a grand celebration, with SP Apoorva Rao receiving the guard of honour and unfurling the National Flag at the police office.

“We are proudly celebrating the Independence Day of our country in a peaceful atmosphere, as a result of the sacrifices of many freedom fighters. I urged all police personnel to work hard to maintain peace and security in the district,” Apoorva Rao said.
