Centre honours 34 Telangana Police officers for meritorious services

Susheel from anti-Maoist force awarded for gallantry posthumously

HYDERABAD: The Centre awarded 34 Telangana police personnel for meritorious services on Sunday, ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on Monday. Among them was junior commander B. Susheel from Telangana’s elite anti-Maoist force, the only personnel from awarded Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) posthumously.

Hailing from Karnataka, Susheel, then 34, laid down his life during an encounter with the Maoists on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border In February 2018.

The Telangana police were awarded 22 Police Medals for Gallantry (PMG), two President’s Police Medals for Distinguished Service, and 10 Police Medals for Meritorious Service.

The PMG was also awarded to 21 more officers, including R. Bhaskaran, a 2012 batch IPS officer, now deputed to the Intelligence wing.

The President’s Police Medal (PPM) for Distinguished Service was awarded to senior IPS officer Vijay Kumar, Additional Director General, Greyhounds, and Sangareddy SP M. Ramana Kumar.

The Police Medal (PM) for Meritorious Service was awarded to 10 personnel in the state, including additional SPs Bandi Venkateshwar Reddy, K.R.K. Prasad Rao, and Atmakuri Venkateswarlu.

Sreenivas, a leading fireman from the fire department, was awarded Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service, and home guards Cheerla Krishna Sagar and K. Sunderlal won the Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal for Meritorious Service.

President’s Police Medal (PPM) for Distinguished Service: additional DGP, Greyhounds, Vijay Kumar; Sangareddy SP M. Ramana Kumar.

Police Medal for Gallantry: SP (Intelligence) R. Bhaskaran; inspectors K. Purushotham Reddy and Kagithoju Shiva Prasad; reserve inspector G. Ramesh; sub-inspector Bandari Kumar; reserve sub-inspectors T. Mahesh and Shaik Nagulmeera; head constables K. Ashok and K. Sandeep Kumar; senior commander (head constable) K. Adinarayana; junior commanders (constables) B. Susheel (posthumous), M. Karthik, V. Madhu, Ch Sampath, R. Sunil Kumar; H. Sukumar; M. Kalyan; G. Sridhar; Ch Raveendra Babu; Rathod Ramesh; and constables Thigala Mahender Rao and Bakkera Shiva Kumar.

Police Medal: Additional SPs Bandi Venkateswara Reddy, K.R.K. Prasad Rao; Atmakuri Venkateswarlu; Inspector A. Bhanu Prasad Rao; reserve inspector A. Srinivas Rao; assistant sub-inspector S.
