The victims, students of Class V in the Urdu Upper Primary School, were identified as Shaik Pathan, 11, Shaik Hasan Buda, 11, and Pathan Meera, 11.
The boys went to offer prayers in the mosque at about 5 am and then went to play at the Boddurai centre where they saw the flagpole. Two more kids playing with them escaped unhurt when the trio pushed them aside before lifting the flagpole. There was a loud sound and the three children fell to the ground, their bodies charred.
