Kerala entrepreneurs to be ambassadors: CM Pinarayi Vijayan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Taking note of the long-pending concerns of the IT industry, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that the government was preparing a scheme to make Kerala a much-preferred IT destination and also assured to enhance the social infrastructure of the state with the vision of developing a metro culture.
Addressing a meeting of Group of Technology Companies, a forum of Technopark firms here on Thursday, he said that successful entrepreneurs from Kerala would be made the ambassadors of the state. “Instead of the state government itself promoting the state as an industry-friendly location, it would be more credible and effective if the entrepreneurs themselves pass on the message regarding the state,” he said.
Mr. Vijayan said that the government was finalising a scheme to make Kerala a much-preferred IT destination. “About 70 percent of those working in IT sector are youths and they would be expecting a much better social infrastructure like good educational institutions, hospitals and recreation facilities. A metro culture need to be developed in the state,” he said.
Interacting with the top officials, he also said that compared to other states, the disadvantage of Kerala is that it lacked major cities. “In many states there is only one major city where the entire developments are centred, while other parts of those states would be lacking in development. Whereas, in Kerala we have many cities, but not a major one,” he said.
Highlighting the stress being given by the government to e-governance, he urged the IT firms in the state to share the applications they develop for foreign countries for the development of the state too. Considering the long-pending list of firms for space in the state, the Chief Minister suggested to the IT firms to come up with plans for providing their vacant spaces for other firms to operate.
