Congolese national Cynthia's parents file custody plea
Hyderabad: The parents of Congolese national Cynthia Vechel, who was allegedly murdered by her husband, filed a petition in court seeking custody of her eight-year-old daughter, who is now placed at a home in Rajendranagar.
Meanwhile, Cyberabad West police has also issued a circular requesting the media to stop telecasting the name or picture or videos of the child, which is affecting her mental condition. Police also warned that a fine of Rs 25,000 will be imposed on those who violate instructions as per Section 21 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
On Thursday, Cynthia’s father Kongolo Kambala Christian and her mother Mbomo Kadima Blandine represented by their counsel from the Embassy of Congo in New Delhi, filed a petition before the VIII Metropolitan magistrate court seeking the custody of their eight-year-old granddaughter.
They said that the girl was born in Congo and holds a Congolese passport and they have the right to claim her custody. The petition will come for hearing on Friday before the bench.
Police said that protecting the child from the effect of the incidents that had happened is the responsibility of all. “She should be protected from from the trauma caused by extensive media scrutiny which affects the child’s privacy, and that is an important aspect of children’s rights. The Child Welfare Committee of Ranga Reddy district has instructed the police to take necessary steps to protect the child’s safety and privacy.” an official release from the Cyberabad West police said.
