Centre to now decide fate of 160 doctors
Hyderabad: The fate of 160 doctors who are from Andhra Pradesh and want to stay put in Telangana is to be decided by the Union health ministry. The Kamalnathan committee has asked the Centre to take a call on the matter.
Over 300 doctors were in the list but after inquiries, consultation and mutual agreement between the chief secretaries of both states, it was decided that half of them would be transferred to Andhra Pradesh and half would stay on.
A doctor said the cases of those who were ill or had spouses working in Telangana were considered. For the remaining 160 doctors the verification process in terms of their certificates, validating their claims and ascertaining their nativity was difficult.
“Hence this list is going to be sent to the Centre to decide,” he said. TS doctors are happy that they will get promotions and recruitments willl be carried out to fill the newly vacated posts.
But they are keeping a close eye on the list and Telangana Government Doctors Association has stated that the government must check false claims and wrong certificates submitted by the doctors.
A senior doctor said, “We are not going to allow these doctors in TS as we know that they do not belong to this region and the government must allot them to their region in Andhra Pradesh.”
