Anantapur: Civil supplies minister Paritala Sunitha said the state government has acted responsibly and had immediately taken proper measures to rescue Amarnath pilgrims from the state, who were stranded in strife-torn Jammu and Kashmir.
The minister had celebrated the moments of joy with the Amarnath pilgrims from Anantapur district, who had returned safely to their homes. The pilgrims had been stranded on the way to Amarnath at their base camp in Jammu and Kashmir — following violence and a curfew, which was declared by security forces in the region.
Ms Sunitha had visited the homes of Sri Krishnadevaraya Varsity professor Sudhakar Babu and other pilgrims at Nayaknagar in Anantapur on Thursday.
While interacting with the pilgrims, K. Lalitha, K. Ravi, S. Syamala, Bharathi, Varalakshmi, Amrutha and B. Radha at Nayaknagar, the minister said the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, though he was in Russia touring, had monitored the situation as security officials brought back AP pilgrims safely to their destinations.
Referring to the efforts by AP Bhavan officials who monitored the situation every minute, Ms Sunitha said all the pilgrims were back home safely from the troubled valley. Kambampati Rammohan also made sincere efforts to rescue all the pilgrims from the state and return safely.
“Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also initiated steps to rescue Chardham pilgrims two years ago,” Sunitha recalled. The pilgrims then expressed gratitude towards the state government for its efforts in bringing them back safely from Jammu and Kashmir.
