Bengaluru: Sub-Inspector suspended for misbehaviour
BENGALURU: A Sub-Inspector of police attached to Vishwanathpura in Bengaluru Rural was placed under suspension on Thursday after he allegedly misbehaved with his senior in public. According to police, the incident took place on Sunday near Devanahalli. The Sub-Inspector, T.R. Srinivas, was on duty and had allegedly stopped a truck and asked for permit.
One Krishnamurthy, who owned the truck, which was laden with stones, picked-up quarrel with the SI and said ‘Why are you harassing us’. A police officer privy to the probe said that the SI demanded permit and Krishnamurthy allegedly said that they have already obtained it and have permission from the inspector of the area. The situation turned ugly when the SI refused to listen to the jurisdictional inspector Manjunath, over phone.
“Without even knowing the entire matter and what his senior has spoken, SI Srinivas lost his cool. He used singular against his senior in public. The entire incident was video recorded and later went viral on Facebook,” said an officer. When contacted Superintendent of police, Bengaluru Rural, Bheemashankar Guled said that following the code of conduct and the rule, police sub inspector Srinivas has been placed under suspension.
“The junior officer on duty has violated the code of conduct, discipline and abused his senior officer. The SI should have escalated the matter to the higher-ups, but he misbehaved in public with his senior in uniform,” Guled added. However, the matter is under investigation and inquiry has been ordered.
