CM Pinarayi Vijayan's app for rain grievances a hit
Kochi: A new android mobile application that enables citizens to report monsoon-related complaints with the Chief Minister’s call centre is turning out to be a big hit. Within three days of launching the application ‘Edavappathi’ as part of the monsoon cleaning campaign of the state government, a total of 92 genuine complaints were registered at the Grievance Redressal Centre of the CM’s call centre as on Monday and have been forwarded to the respective local bodies and corporations for quick action.
“The app is available in Google Playstore and people can upload pictures and complaints about potholes, trenches, untidy canals or ponds or other such civic issues caused due to heavy rains. If you find an issue you can key in your name, mobile number, location of the spot (name of local body, ward, landmark), and other details,” said a senior official of the Information Kerala Mission, which developed the application along with C-DIT (Centre for Development of Imaging Technology).
A one- time password will be sent to the user’s mobile number for verification. After successful verification, he/she can upload the image by taking a photo directly or from their mobile gallery, the official said. The Grievance Redressal Cell will register the genuine complaints and pass on the matter to District Collectors and thereafter to offices concerned for prompt action.
“We have received the maximum complaints from Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam. The complaints ranged from dangerous potholes to polluted ponds. A follow up on the action taken based on the complaints will be done,” the official said.
