Buses with fake permits plenty in Malappuram
MALAPPURAM: Almost all of the limited stop private bus services between Kozhikode and Thrissur have been found using fake Super Fast/Fast Passenger permit to extract more money from passengers. The Super Fast/Fast Passenger private bus services are plenty in the route which plies through the National Highway 66.
But according to the latest information accessed through the RTI act, the Regional Transport Office, Malappuram has made it clear that there is only one bus with Super Fast/Fast Passenger permit in the route. The private bus with registration number KL 65 B. 1677 which plies between Ernakulam South and Kozhikode is the only service with authorised Super Fast/Fast Passenger permit in the route.
The RTO had beefed up extensive checks along the route from last week following several complaints about fake permits and charging of higher fares.
Some of them were caught during the drive and had been fined. But most of the buses continue service with misleading stickers that reads Super Fast/Fast Passenger.
The tussle between the private bus operators and passengers are rampant in this route over the higher fare for long. Thavanur native Muraleedharan M who accessed the information of Super Fast/Fast Passenger buses which shuttles through the district said that he had to face rude behaviour from officials to get the reply for his RTI query.
