TTD to commence Vedic courses in Rishikesh

Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which is the official custodian of renowned Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, is planning to start Vedic courses in the pilgrim town of Rishikesh, Uttarakhand in a bid to introduce it in northern India as well.

TTD Trust Board chairman Y V Reddy made this announcement during an executive committee meeting of the Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SV Vedic University).

“TTD is contemplating to commence the services of Vedic varsity in Rishikesh soon,” Reddy said.

Incidentally, SV Vedic University is the only varsity with University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition among Vedic universities in the country, prompting TTD to extend its services beyond the Telugu states and southern region.

The TTD-run Vedic varsity aims to enhance the strength of students studying Vedic courses, including commencing Purana pravachanam, yoga, dhyanam (meditation) and other certificate courses in the institution.

Meanwhile, Adarsha Veda Gurukula Education, which ceased due to the Covid pandemic, has resumed operations in the varsity. Further, 40 Vedic students will be given admission to do research.

Moreover, TTD has also decided to perform Sri Satyanarayana Vratam in 59 major temples in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on every Pournami (full moon day) and also commence Srinivasa vratam.

On Saturday morning, two Hyderabad-based devotees donated Rs 1 crore to SV Pranadana Trust. A V K Prasad and A V Anjaneya Prasad made this donation on behalf of SRC Company Infra Pvt Ltd.
