Moderate rains likely in Hyderabad on Saturday

HYDERABAD: Telangana's weather has become totally unpredictable. While many places are registering record high temperatures, some regions are witnessing unseasonable thunderstorms and rains.

The city on Friday woke up to thunderstorms, lightning and rain spells that lasted for about two hours. However, the weather continued to remain hot and humid throughout the day, with no significant respite from the heat.

According to the TS development and planning society, the day’s highest temperature of 43.9º Celsius was recorded in Kumaram Bheem district, followed by Mahbubabad at 43.6ºC and Nalgonda 43.3ºC. In the city, the maximum temperature of 39ºC was recorded at Hayathnagar

As per the IMD, a ‘trough discontinuity’ was running from north Chhattisgarh to Kerala across interior Maharashtra, Telangana and interior Karnataka, which will bring in more rains.

IMD has issued a yellow warning for the next two days for the state as light to moderate rains accompanied with lightning and winds gusting to 40 kmph are very likely to occur at isolated places.

At the same time, an orange alert has been issued statewide for the next three days owing to a rise in the maximum temperatures, which are likely to be in the range of 41º-45ºC.
