KAKINADA: Conflicts erupted between two groups at Sankhavaram, the mandal headquarter under the Annavaram police station limits of Kakinada district on Thursday Night during the Dr B.R.Ambedkar birthday celebrations.
When one group took out a procession another group appealed to them not enter small lanes in villages as there were altercations that took place last year. This led to arguments and very soon the two groups pelted stones at each other.
As some in one group were injured they staged a dharna on the road between Sankhavaram and Kathipudi even as the rival group began raising slogans.
Meanwhile, Annavaram police led by its circle inspector Kishore Kumar rushed to the spot and pacified the two groups and dispersed them.
Police said that a police picket has been set up at Sankhavaram village to monitor the situation.
Kishore Kumar said that the injured were admitted to Government Hospital and after receiving complaints from the victims, a case would be registered.
Peddapuram in charge DSP B. Appa Rao said he is closely monitoring the law and order situation.
