KSRTC to collect user-free from passengers

BENGALURU: For commuting in buses belonging to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on newly constructed Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway-275, passengers will have to pay user fee after KSRTC officials have decided to levy a user fee.

The officials concerned of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will levy a user fee on passengers in its Karnataka Sarige, Rajahamsa and multi axle buses commuting on newly constructed Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway (six-lane).

The levy in user fee came into effect after National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) started collecting user fee from Tuesday onwards at Kaniminike toll plaza. KSRTC will collect user fee of Rs 15 per passenger travelling in Karnataka Sarige buses, Rs 18 for travellers in Rajahamsa buses and Rs 20 for passengers in multi axle buses.

In a release, the Chief Traffic Manager stated that the levy of user fee is with a view to offset the cost, the KSRTC is constrained to levy a user fee on passengers. The user fee is applicable for the passengers travelling in the buses operated exclusively on the Highway and it has been the practice followed across all the toll roads.

NHAI charges Rs 460 as user fee for a single journey and the fee for return journey within a day is Rs 690. For three-axle vehicles, NHAI has fixed Rs 500 for a single journey and Rs 750 for return journey within a day.
