Hyderabad: Cops begin search for Kondapur site's contractor

A case of culpable homicide has been registered against the builder, the contractor, site engineer and the site supervisor.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police has formed special teams to track down absconding individuals who are facing an investigation after two workers were killed in a mud-slide at a construction site in Kondapur, on Monday.

A case of culpable homicide has been registered against the builder, the contractor, site engineer and the site supervisor. It has been established that the construction work was being carried out by Vamsiram builders.

The contractor has been identified as Surender Rao, one Karunakar was the site engineer and the site supervisor has been named as Anjaneyulu.

An early probe has revealed that Vamsiram builders – the original builders – had taken permission from the GHMC in February this year and had leased the construction to another builder who was monitoring the works on the site.

The site’s owner, Pyata Mahipal Reddy, was involved in the deals too. But cops are yet to uncover a record of this deal with the GHMC and are investigating everyone linked to the construction.

“We will soon summon all individuals linked to the construction project at Kondapur and record their statements and proceed with the investigation,” officials said.

On Monday, a large part of the dig along the boundary caved in killing two people who were working in level 3 of the proposed cellar at the site. Two others escaped.
