Hyderabad: Electric RTC bus gets challaned before launch

The set of 40 electric buses were supposed to be launched this week, but due to various reasons their launch has been pushed back.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corpo-rations’ (TSRTC) electric buses have set a record even before their official launch in the city.

The buses which were on a trail run, have accumulated two challans already for wrong parking on the ORR and at the Puppalguda toll gate.

The bus bearing number, (TS 10 UB 6784), was parked on the Vikarabad route of the Outer Ring Road in February and once at Puppalguda toll gate in the month of January.

Stopping a vehicle on any express highway is not permitted as vehicles would be coming at high speed and parking such vehicles would lead to accidents.

When contacted, an RTC official said, “The buses were on their trial run along that route so that drivers get a hang of the route as the drivers are still undergoing training. The reason for stopping is not exactly known. We would make sure that they are instructed not to repeat this in the future.”

The challans were, however, paid by the GHMC on Thursday. The set of 40 electric buses were supposed to be launched this week, but due to various reasons their launch has been pushed back.
