LDF sees sabotage in Methran Kayal bund breach

Kottayam: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has sought a comprehensive probe into Monday night’s breach of Methran Kayal’s outer bund. “It's a sabotage at a time when it was all set for harvesting with a motive of destroying paddy cultivation," Kumarakom panchayat president A.P. Salimon told reporters here. LDF leader K. Anil Kumar and panchayat vice-president Sindhu Ravikumar suspected Rakindo Developers behind the "sabotage attempt."

They claimed signs of using tools like spades was apparent and sought searchlights and police aid posts to protect it. Farmers had encroached upon 328 of Rakindo's 408 acres in November, and it was ready for harvesting by the first week of March. The farmers restored the bund by Tuesday evening.
