Ardram to ensure quality healthcare in Kerala
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government is all set to launch its second mission Ardram which seeks to bring about ground-breaking changes in the health care facilities in the state. The health mission is aimed at making government hospitals people friendly, ensuring affordable health care facilities to all sections and converting primary health centres into family health centres. Medical colleges will be upgraded with super speciality facilities.
At a press conference here health minister K.K. Shailaja said the mission was being implemented to ensure quality health care and make health institutions people friendly. Super speciality facilities will be provided in district and taluk hospitals. The primary health centres will be made family health centres. Modernised registration system will be implemented in OP wings to reduce the rush, token system in government hospitals and consultation rooms to ensure privacy of patients.
The facilities at the casualty wing, IP wing, diagnostic laboratories, pharmacy , labor room, operation theatre will be upgraded as per the norms laid down for these services. The health care facilities at the district, taluk, block and panchayat level health centres will be reorganised. In order to improve the quality of hospitals, treatment protocol will be put in place for major diseases and all required measures will be implemented to control infection in the health centres.
The government is planning to provide universal training to doctors and health care workers to update them on the latest developments in their field besides protocol for treatment. The mission will ensure higher level of participation of the local bodies in health care activities. This is the second of the four missions being launched by the LDF Government. Haritha Kerala Mission was launched a couple of months ago. Two more missions; Life, which aims at providing houses for all in five years and Education Mission which focuses on modernisation of education will be launched soon.
