AP Ranked Top State in Ease of Doing Business Index For Three Consecutive Years: CM
Vijayawada: Over 311 major industries were set up in Andhra Pradesh, creating over 1.3 lakh job opportunities since 2019, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said.
Jagan Mohan Reddy explained that 386 MoUs worth Rs 13.11 lakh crore investments were signed in the Global Investors Summit (GIS). These enterprises are expected to create an additional 6 lakh jobs in AP, he said.
Wishing the people a very Happy Sankranti, the Chief Minister said there was a phenomenal growth of industries, infrastructure and employment in the past 55 months, bringing smiles to every household.
“The MSME sector is booming with the setting up of over 3.94 lakh units, employing over 26.29 lakh people through establishment of 54 new clusters across the state. To help sick MSMEs recover, the government gave an assistance of Rs 2,087 crore as a Restart Package.”
He said port-led development is gaining momentum with the construction of four new ports in addition to the existing six ports.
The new international airport at Bhogapuram, a Rs 4,592 crore project, will be a growth engine for the state’s development, promising 10,000 direct and 80,000 indirect jobs, he stated.
Expansion and development of Gannavaram, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Kadapa and Kurnool airports was also taking place.
“Andhra Pradesh attracted major investments from mega industries such as JSW Steel, Ramco Cement, Century Panels, ATC Tyres, Aditya Birla Garments, Dixon Technologies, Greenlam South, Laurus Labs, Infosys Development Center, etc. These, along with those of MSMEs, are expected to create employment opportunities for 33.63 lakh people.”
The Chief Minister added that Andhra Pradesh is among the states with the highest GSDP growth rate in the country and the state has been ranked at first place among all states in the Ease of Doing Business (EDB) index for three consecutive years.
“The Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, Mulapeta, and Kakinada gateway ports are being constructed at a rapid pace at a cost of around Rs 16,000 crore. The new ports would add 110 million tonnes of cargo handling capacity and the ports will provide employment, directly and indirectly, to 75,000 people.
Regarding fishing harbours and fish landing centres being set up to boost the livelihood of fishermen, he said 10 fishing harbours and six fish landing centers are being constructed with world-class standards at a cost of Rs 3,793 crore. There will be a port or a fishing harbour for every 50 km of the coastline, he said.
