Hyderabad: SoFTNET chief executive officer Shailesh Reddy is yet to resign from his post. He was appointed to the post by the TRS government in July 2016 and as per democratic conventions, all such posts being co-terminus, is bound to resign. However, he has chosen to cling to his post.
Society for Telangana State Network (SoFTNET) — also called T-SAT — is an initiative of the department of information technology, electronics and communications of the state government to provide quality education harnessing the potential of satellite communications and information technology.
SoFTNET uses GSAT-8 satellite to telecast four channels. T-SAT NIPUNA and T-SAT VIDYA cater to the distance learning, agriculture extension, rural development, tele-medicine and e-governance requirements of the people of Telangana.
