Thrissur: Thrissur district collector A. The order issued under section 144 of the CrPC has banned the gathering of five or more persons and processions and meetings in these areas till Tuesday midnight. The areas are Guruvayur, Kandanassery and temple police stations and Pavaratty police station limits. The hartal called by the BJP on Monday over the murder of RSS worker Anand, 26, was complete in Guruvayur and Manalur Assembly segments.

Private buses and vehicles kept off the road. The busy temple town of Guruvayur and Lord Sree Krishna temple saw only a few visitors. Though nearly 100 weddings had been booked at the Sree Krishnan temple, only a few guests turned up. The funeral of Anand was held at Santhi Theeram at Cheruthuruty on Monday afternoon. After a five-hour-long post-mortem, his body was taken from Thrissur Medical College at Nimini as a procession with hundreds of RSS and BJP workers accompanying the ambulance on two-wheelers.

After the body was kept at his house at Laksham Veedu colony at Nemini for one hour, it was taken to Santhi Theeram. RSS Pranth Pracharak P.N. Harishkumar, BJP state leaders V. Muraleedharan, K. Surendran and district president A. Nagesh among others paid their homage to the victim. A large posse of cops headed by City Police Commissioner Rahul R. Nair was present at MCH and during the procession carrying the body. Guruvayur CI E. The car used by the assailants is registered in the name of Fahis, the CI said.
