G.Sanjeeva Reddy to be Honoured with Rajiv Sadhbhavana Award on Oct 19

Hyderabad:Indian National Trade Union Congress (ITUC) president Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy will be honoured with the Sadbhavana Award on the occasion of Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra Commemoration day on October 19.

Committee chairman and TPCC leader G. Niranjan said that the day marks the anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi hoisting the Congress flag at the Charminar and commencing his Sadbhavana Yatra in the city in 1990.

The Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra Commemoration Committee was formed to take forward the message of the yatra and has observed its anniversary for 33 years, he said. An eminent personality is honoured with the Sadbhavana Award every year, Niranjan said at a press conference in Gandhi Bhavan on Friday.

Niranjan said the selection committee of Kamalakar Rao, ex-MLC had decided to confer the Sadbhavana Award on Dr Sanjeeva Reddy, who has served as MP, CWC member, labour minister in undivided Andhra Pradesh in recognition of his longstanding services in the field of trade unionism.

The award will be handed over at an event to be organized at Charminar on October 19, Niranjan said.

TPCC chief A. Revanth Reddy, AICC Telangana affairs incharge Manikrao Thakre, CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, MPs N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, former MP V. Hanumantha Rao, senior leaders K. Jana Reddy, Mohd Ali Shabbir and others will take part in the programme, he said.
