BJP demands data of persons with disabilities

Hyderabad: Seeking a separate data of persons with disabilities (PWD), Telangana BJP Election Commission affairs committee chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy on Friday filed a petition with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj seeking action on bogus voters.

In his complaint, Reddy said that voters having one among the 21 disabilities as mentioned by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 are termed as voters with disabilities. As of now, PwD voters are enrolled in electoral rolls under ‘visual impairment, speech and hearing, disability, locomotor disability’ and other categories. The complainant sought a list of PwD voters in all the 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana.

Reddy said that they had filed a complaint on September 16 with the soft copy of bogus voters, belonging to a particular community, in two combinations such as 63 Nampally, 64 Karwan, 66 Charminar, 67 Chandrayangutta, 68 Yakutpura and 69 Bahadurpura, falling under Hyderabad district. (Total no of voters 1.65 lakh) and Maheshwaram 51, Rajendranagar 52, Serilingampally 64, Karwan 67, Chandrayangutta 68 Yakutpura 68 and Bahadurpua 69 falling under Ranga Reddy and Hyderabad districts. (total number of voters 1.73 lakh).

"We have been given to understand that the same has not been forwarded to local DEOs / EROs for necessary action to delete the bogus voters. This shall have been done before the publication of the Final Rolls. We had also represented about non-furnishing of required information which was sought by us from the BLO Supervisors regarding gated communities in 40 - Patancheru, 43 - Medchal, 44 - Malkajgiri, 45 - Quthbullapur, 45 - Kukatpally, 49 - LB Nagar and 61 - Jubilee Hills. This information was not provided to us even after reminding the local EROs and DEOs. Kindly direct them to provide data," he said.

Meanwhile, residents of several gated communities submitted Form 6. Many of these are being rejected under pressure from ruling party leaders mostly on the basis of defective photos and other reasons by data entry staff. Before this is done, it is the duty of the BLOs / BLO supervisors and other officials to seek proper documents by visiting or contacting them if Form 6 was in physical form or advise them to re-submit online with documents in a proper format. PEBL City, Provident in Rajendranagar and Aparna Serena in Serilingampally are some instances.
