One judge each from AP and TS transferred out

HYDERABAD: Justice Kanneganti Lalitha of the Telangana High Court was transferred to the Karnataka High Court on Thursday by the Union government, which notified the same after the President approved a proposal of the Supreme Court collegium.

The Supreme Court collegium, chaired by Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandra Chud, proposed to transfer Justice Lalitha and two others, Abhishek Reddy and Nagarjun, in a meeting on November 24, 2022.

Following the transfers of Reddy and Nagarjun, orders have been issued for Lalitha’s transfer.

The Union government also notified the transfer of Justice D. Ramesh of the Andhra Pradesh High Court to the Allahabad High Court. His transfer was also proposed in the November 24 meeting.

Justice Kanneganti Lalitha is a native of Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh. She did her schooling at St Theresa’s in Erragadda, Intermediate from Nagarjuna Junior College at S.R. Nagar, graduated in arts from Sarojini Naidu Vanita Mahavidyalaya in Nampally and a law degree from Padala Rami Reddy Law College of Osmania University. She enrolled as an advocate on December 28, 1994, in the composite Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh. She was elevated as a judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on May 2, 2020, following which she was transferred to the High Court of Telangana and assumed charge on November 15, 2021.

Justice Donadi Ramesh is a native of Madanapalle in Chittoor district. He did his graduation from Sri Venkateswara Arts College in Tirupathi, and law from V.R. Law College of Nellore from 1987 to 19990. He enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in 1990, following which he started practice at the Andhra Pradesh High Court in Hyderabad and joined the office of Justice P.S. Narayana. During his practice, he was appointed the government pleader for services and worked in the role from December 2000 to 2004. He was then appointed a special government pleader, attached to the office of the Advocate General in 2014, and worked in the role till May 2019. He was elevated to the bench as a judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh and assumed charge on January 13, 2020.
