Youths drown in Kattikayam waterfalls

The post-mortem of the two was conducted at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital (MCH) and released to the relatives.

Kottayam: Two youths, who are natives of Cherthala in Alappuzha district, died after they fell into the waterfalls at Kattikayam near Melukavu on Thursday morning. The victims were identified as Shyam Ashok, 24, and Rojin Joby, 22. The incident happened at around 8 am when they went for a bath near the waterfalls after visiting the tourism spot at Ilickalkkallu. Though another youth Vincent was also present with the duo, the two fell into the waterfalls when they slipped through the sand beneath their legs.

Though Vincent tried to rescue them from the waterfalls by throwing a stick to them, they could not be rescued. Though the locals were soon summoned to the place and the two were rushed to a private hospital at Erattupetta, they could not be rescued. The post-mortem of the two was conducted at the Kottayam Medical College Hospital (MCH) and released to the relatives.
