Warangal: 15 kids sick after school breakfast

15 students of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Gurukul at Thorrur fell ill after consuming breakfast prepared at their school.

Warangal: The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Gurukul hostels in the state continue to fail to provide proper food to students. Just four days after about 30 students of Nellikuduru KGBV were taken ill after eating rice infested with worms, another such incident took place in Thorrur wherein 15 students of the local KGBV were hospitalised after consuming spoilt food served for breakfast.

They were shifted to the local community health centre for treatment. All the students were said to be out of danger. Dr Vijay Kumar said the food poisoning was caused because purified water was not used during cooking. The students said that they are being served bad food and they are not able to eat properly every day. They were served tomato and dal for dinner and yellow rice for breakfast.

Mahbubabad revenue divisional officer Krishnaveni visited Thorrur and spoke to the students in the hospital. She inspected the hostel and noted that proper hygiene was not being maintained at the hostel. She warned the principal of action if immediate measures were not taken to keep the surroundings clean. Even as the state government promises good food and quality education for the students, such incident continues to take place leaving the safety of students in state-run hostels under question.
